This is the first wedge pillow I have owned and I only have good things to say about it. The pillow arrives tightly compressed but it unfolded with no problems in about 40 minutes. It is very soft (memory foam) and comfortable for me, but maybe too soft for heavier people. There is a slight "smell" to the pillow, which is common in memory foam products, however, it's not strong and seems to go away after a few hours.
The pillow itself is amazing. The elevation is perfect and the outer cover is super soft but doesn't make you too hot. The cushion is medium, you don't sink way in but it is not hard like a brick. After using it for a couple nights, I found my neck and shoulder pains significantly decreased as did my back pains. My only complaint is not having a slip on pillow cover for "extra protection" as our home has pets and kids and washing bedding is a frequent thing. Otherwise, this wedge pillow has made a surprising difference in how I sleep and in my life in general.
One tip I can share about using wedge pillow: Don’t put the top of the wedge right up against your headboard/wall because then you can’t get the full benefit of the wedge's lift. After trial and error, I found that by leaving the top of the wedge about 3-4” from the headboard, we got a more comfortable night’s sleep — the head doesn’t hit the headboard and we got more lift.
