Ready, Set, Go!

Anytime between the end of her second year and her fourth year, your toddler may show signs that she's ready to start toilet training herself.

Keep an eye out for any of these key indicators:
  • Regular, predictable bowel movements
  • The ability to pull her pants up and down
  • Interest in others' bathroom habits and in wearing underpants — basically, wanting to be like others around her
  • Some demonstration — such as squatting, grunting, or even telling you — that she's having a bowel movement

But even if she's showing all of these signs, if she's still not interested in using the toilet, don't push the issue. Remember, it's got to be up to her!
