The Daily Meal Announces the 25 Best Towns for Trick-Or-Treating in America for 2015

NEW YORK – October 15, 2015 – The Daily Meal, the world’s largest food and drink lifestyle site, just unveiled its 2nd annual list of the 25 Best Towns for Trick-or-Treating in America. The top towns featured were spread throughout the country, with this year’s list featuring 19 states.

Pumpkin Pancakes with Sour Cream and Pecans"Halloween is the special time of year when communities combine their creative geniuses to produce the spookiest, creepiest, and most festive events possible," says Colman Andrews, editorial director at The Daily Meal. "We compiled this list because we wanted to find out which towns really are on top when it comes to making amazing Halloween memories."

To compile the list, The Daily Meal began its search by looking at the country’s safest and most family-friendly towns. The team then researched each town’s scheduled community events around Halloween, from fall festivals to community parties. The Daily Meal also determined each town’s “walkability rating” to determine which would be the easiest for little trick-or-treaters to navigate.

“It isn’t simply about finding the perfect costume and collecting the best candy,” said Andrews, “What makes Halloween magical is the excitement generated by locals who take the time to decorate their homes and the various civic institutions where festive events are staged for the occasion.”

This year, Colorado Springs was named the top trick-or-treating town in the country. Its Western Museum of Mining’s Haunted Mines Haunted House is the perfect venue for the brave at heart. Combining historically based scenes and Halloween horror, the event has visitors crawling through old mine shafts and outrunning zombies.

Compared to its first annual list in 2014, The Daily Meal team saw some regional differences this year. Michigan seems to be particularly trick-or-treating friendly, with three of the top 25 cities coming from the Wolverine State. While the distribution of towns across the country was fairly even, the East Coast came out on top with one each of the trick-or-treating towns coming from Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont.

The team at The Daily Meal encourages readers to provide feedback on the following list. Did your favorite town to trick-or-treat in make the cut?
